Fred Cornog is an American musician and songwriter who, after overcoming a lot of personal demons (many of them in bottles), began to write and record his songs in a very basic, low-key way in the early 90s.
The legendary John Peel played this track on his show when it was released. It became an immediate favourite with me (so much so that even fifteen years later it appeared on my list of 45 45s), and remains to my mind one of the most beautiful tracks ever:
