"The Greatest Lie In The History Of Humanity"
I've directed you before to the YouTube channel of the American composer and teacher Doug Helvering, where he analyses pieces of music from all ages and genres and gives depth and insight to one's appreciation and enjoyment of humanity's greatest art form.
What I wasn't aware of until an hour or two ago is that he has another channel for more personal stories and observations.
In the latest addition to that channel, he describes how his upbringing as a member of one of those 'Christian' cults which litter American society like the remains of a sewage overflow caused a permanent rift from his family, led him to therapy and to his 'coming out' as an atheist.
It's a moving and often angry denunciation of the many ways in which societies and individuals within them can be so totally fucked up and fucked over by inculcated belief in the unreal and the unsustainable, and I warmly recommend it:
